I posted this song about a year ago when I first heard it. I am posting it again for those that may have missed it. This is probably one of the most powerful songs lyrically that I have ever heard. It speaks to me on many levels and across different areas of my life. This song really touches me spiritually and politically. That may be because I am a Christian and a Conservative/Libertarian. Don’t worry folks…I am not going to make this a political. I am sure there is some area of your life that you are struggling with. You have the desire to make a difference in this world, and for whatever reason, you do nothing. Maybe you have already made it to the top of the mountain and have become uninspired…Maybe you have attempted the climb and tumbled back down…Or maybe, you are like me and still trying to find your footing before attempting the long trek up the mountain. Maybe you are afraid to speak up or afraid of the consequences of you speaking up. I have been doing a lot of thinking lately and I am starting to realize that nothing will ever happen if continue to sit on my butt, watch TV, procrastinate, and then complain that I just don’t have the time. I’ve come realize that I am going to have to re-prioritize my life and how I spend my time so that I can make my journey up the mountain…so that my story can be told…so that I can make a difference. From the song: “Youve got the words to change a nation But youre biting your tongue Youve spent a life time stuck in silence Afraid youll say something wrong If no one ever hears it how we gonna learn your song? Youve got a heart as loud as lions So why let your voice be tamed? Maybe were a little different Theres no need to be ashamed Youve got the light to fight the shadows So stop hiding it away Come on, come on” I believe we all have the desire to help our fellow man and make a difference in this world. We all claim we don’t have the time. Yet, we have time to watch our favorite show(s), spend an entire Saturday for four months on the couch watching football (guilty as charged), and find a multitude of other things to do besides fulfill that desire God has placed in your heart to serve your fellow man. James 4:13-17 – Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” As it is, you boast and you brag. All such boasting is evil. Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins. youtube/watch?v=Q03E7oTc5qo
