I posted this to the Beaches group page, but it applies to all of us. A man froze to death last night at Yonge and Dundas. Id like to suggest that WE take a stand for homeless, marginalized and socially isolated people. I suggest that as a group we do what we can to make sure that we are ALL warm and safe, not just here in the Beaches but everywhere. St. Aidans Church (at Queen and Silverbirch) is one of the sites for a grassroots programme called Out of the Cold. The programme relies heavily on donations of money, food, clothing and any other items that can support the homeless. b.t.w. I am not in any way associated with the Out of the Cold programme or the church. I AM, however, going to do what I can to make sure that no one else freezes to death in our city this winter. Heres a link to the info about the programme at St. Aidans, and how we can make a difference. N.B. the e-mail form and e-mail address on the page dont work. Im trying to find an addy that works, but in the meantime, phone (416)691-2222. Not everyone is warm. “Never doubt that a group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead staidansinthebeach/out-of-the-cold/
