I prayed this morning for missions and needs. Then I read the last four chapters of Second Samuel chapters 21-24. IN the last chapter King David orders his general Joab to number Israel. Specifically he wanted the number of men who could go to war. Joab warns David not to do this, but David orders him. After the men are numbered David realizes he has displeased God, “David’s heart troubled him after he had numbered the people. So David said to the Lord, ‘I have sinned greatly’” 2 Samuel 24:10. The prophet Gad gives David three choices of punishment. Three days of pestilence follow and 70,000 people perish. Seldom do we make decisions in life that affect only us. We should make decisions responsibly knowing they will also affect others.
