I preached at Sunderland at eight and at twelve. As we were riding back the wind was exceeding high; but as we entered Newcastle a shower began, which laid the wind and then gave place to clear sunshine. I was extremely weary when we came in, having preached four times on Saturday. But my strength soon returned, so that the whole congregation near the Keelmens Hospital could distinctly hear the entire sermon. And great was the Lord in the midst of us. ~Journal of John Wesley, April 29, 1753
