I predicted this weeks ago - eventually, if you push people far - TopicsExpress

I predicted this weeks ago - eventually, if you push people far enough, a breaking point will be reached. This is the next phase of that logical progression. Police saw someone smoking marijuana and pursued the person onto private property where a very large birthday party was underway. When police tried to capture or detain the person, the 20 to 30 party attendees formed a human shield, that eventually swelled to at least 70 people. Police were shoved back and bottles thrown by the end of the melee. Early on the incident, police were asked why they were on the private property, and only got yelled orders in response. Everything happening recently if it keeps progressing could end up in a default situation where police may need to provide an accounting to people on the spot in certain communities that historically have been pressed up against the wall by law enforcement and society. You wont be able to just issue orders, lawful or not, and expect compliance. A lawful order from a source with no perceived valid standing is arguably not a lawful order. A government has no validity without the support of its people. The police and more specifically the courts and legal system and framework in which the police operate have caused this situation. Its on them to fix it. Im not endorsing it or saying its right or wrong. Im thinking this is how it may end up being, and people will need to adjust on both sides, unless the police want to start rolling armed fully militarized SWAT units into routine patrol in certain areas. Or, you know, stop policing petty victimless crimes like someone smoking a plant to start.
