I proudly present to the group my father-in-law Raymond Turpen. Born and raised in Texas, Ray volunteered for service in Korea where he was taken prisoner by communist forces. He organized an escape and led several troops back to the US lines. Ray married while on leave and moved to Anderson after the war. He worked at Delco for many years, raised two daughters and was active at the Parkview Church of the Nazarene and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Just last week he returned home after three months in a nursing home recovering from complications of diabetes. Freedom is not free, so to Ray and all the other veterans, thank you!
