I put this story up every year at this time because I like it. I would look forward to that Sunday when NPR would play it and find a quiet place and listen. Its not just a fluffy Christmas story from long ago, it still has our current times running through it. Around the City during this time of of the year people are putting baskets and boxes of Christmas time for Folks who need it. We find ourselves in a time when it is needed as much as any time I have ever known. Maybe one will produce a story like this. I am also making sure I put this up this year because we find ourselves in a time of great distress and oppression. Many of our messages to each other are filled with the rage of reaction to our current times, and we shouldnt stick our heads in the ground and not confront them. At the same time there is the need to bring some relief beyond words to those around us who are unable to fill the basic needs these times have created. So this is meant to encourage a little of that also. The writer and teller of this tale, John Henry Faulk, didnt write it from a life of whimsical comfort. He was able to find this story in his own times of distress and oppression that he stood against, fought and in the end won. So this is wishing You all the best of the Holidays, and with the hope that some little kid will have a story like this to tell. . https://youtube/watch?v=j5h4S9A9Nbs
