I quite enjoyed rejecting an interview for yet another unpaid Assistant Psychologist position (no idea when I might have applied for this) in Ireland on the grounds that I will not sell myself, my experience, or my education short by working for free for another well-paid, established Psychologist under the promise that Id get a reference so that I might apply for the ever-coveted doctorate. Being expected to treat extremely vulnerable patients, conduct their funded research, or be a general office dogsbody, at a cost to myself, with little to no training, is abhorrent for Assistant Psychologists, clients and all relevant parties and I would really love to see the APs of Ireland (or wherever) demand better.
