I ran a total of 17.55 miles today. I started of with an 8 mile run this morning through many, many questionable (although well lit) neighborhoods, was briefly interrupted by 5hrs of sleep, 8hrs of work and then I ran 5 miles in and around Adams Morgan and got *thoroughly* lost in Mount Pleasant which is a really nice neighborhood. I did 1 cool down mile, but a certain running ass runner was talking ***t, so I went out for an extra 3.5 miles. Things I have observed: 1. Only a handful of runners will acknowledge you and smile. Be extra nice to the ones that do. 2. People who act like they own the sidewalk are the worst. 3. Sidewalks in neighborhoods in transition are in need of serious repair or dont exist. Its stuff like that (or the lack of a bike lane, or no parks within a ten minute walking radius) that are show an insidious aspect of urban planning policy and how one group of people and their living standards are more valued than another, buy our GOVERNMENT. Institutionalized discrimination, etc. yadda x 3 4. Running while listening to The Economist makes me feel like the East Coast Liberal Intelligentsia I was always meant to be. Now Im off to eat Jamaican Beef patties from a place that never closes (sorry Josette, but not really), and chocolate chip cookies cause I earned them. #fakemotivational #fakeexerciseguru
