I ran out of materials to work on my current projects so I started - TopicsExpress

I ran out of materials to work on my current projects so I started on these last night. I am making fabric rugs for our dogs kennels. The floor is warm but wanted to try and make their kennels as welcoming as possible for them. So when they have to spend time in kennel they have a special place that is all their own. They already have blankets but I have a few that shred traditional beds while in kennel so am trying this out to see if it works an additional buffer against those hard plastic trays. It is affordable because I have loads of old sheets and scraps laying around and these can be tossed in the washer if they get to dirty to clean them. Is keeping my hands busy and allowing me to craft for my dogs. I am making square rugs made to fit each and every dogs own personal kennel. And they dont have to be made out of sheets, any scrap fabric you have laying around can be used for these. I started out with the shirts that I cut the collars off of for our male dogs portrait shirts. I remember sitting at my Memas side as a girl learning this skill, she would turn all fabric scraps that were to thin to use for quilting into rag rugs to give at the holidays to those with wood floors to keep feet warm on cold winter nights. Keeping those old arts alive and well into the next generation of crafters. If you decide to try this I would recommend making the mat half the size of their kennel so they still have an area to lay against the cool floor if they choose to. Not all dogs like beds in their kennels and have seen dogs that alternate laying on the bed and laying on the bare spot so I will be giving our dogs options in their kennels so if it gets to warm for their own personal choice they can lay either on or off the rugs I am making. youtu.be/CRqsG1YqWVU
