I ran two statistical tests that brought together charitable - TopicsExpress

I ran two statistical tests that brought together charitable giving and religiosity by state. What I wanted to see was whether whether there was a correlation between the two data sets. I found a very strong statistical correlation. More religious states were more generous. The opposite was also true. The societal question is: if faith-based giving is declining as share of this nations giving pie and is declining in absolute dollars, where will future generations learn about charity and philanthropy? My thesis is - church is the first place where we learn to give. Therefore if fewer people have this experience, they will be less charitable throughout their lives.
