I rarely admit this, because it rarely happens, but I am confused. This situation with Ray Rice is not new. It has been in the news and on TV. It happened sometime ago, it has gone through the courts, it has been tepidly dealt with by Roger Goodell and the NFL. Ray Rice was scheduled to return to the Baltimore Ravens as early as Friday morning. Business as usual. And then TMZ, a radical, salacious brand of media released a video of what actually happened in that elevator in Atlantic City and everybody feigned indignation AT THE SIGHT of a professional athlete striking a petite woman so hard she bounced off of the elevator rail onto the floor. Roger Goodell, Baltimore Ravens, Nike and EA Sports, you are hypocrites!!! What does it mean to say, we did not have access to the tape. You had to see this horrific act to realize how heinous it really was? Do you also have to be burned to know that fire is hot? One out of four women will experience domestic violence in their life. A woman is abused or violently attacked every ninety seconds. Most women are killed by a boyfriend or spouse. Ray Rice is learning and will learn that one act, one mistake can ruin a life. Hopefully, others will also learn from this. We have work to do. Live on purpose.
