I rarely do things like this but I need to vent about something. My mail carrier is a wonderful older woman...I would guess her to be in her early 60s. Last night she delivered our mail at 9:30pm. During December, she frequently showed up after 7pm. We spoke with her about it and expressed our concern for her safety. She stated she carries mace but yes, it was sometimes concerning, not to mention exhausting, for her to be working such a long day. Our secondary carrier just stopped by and delivered a package that needed a signature. We spoke with him about it, and he said it was due to MLK Day. That when theres a higher volume of mail, they are responsible for getting it all out. I havent thought to ask them what time they start in the mornings. But Im going to assume she worked at least a 13-14 hour day yesterday. Thats absolutely absurd. Especially since theyve gone to delivering mail on Sundays. Ive written a letter but sometimes taking a rant like this public can raise more awareness. Thanks for listening.
