I rarely post on Facebook, but I feel like whenever I do, its for something I feel strongly about, or its about an important event thats gone on. Not for likes or for people to tell me how good of a person I am. A lot of you come on here and see whats new, so hey, its a good opportunity to make a statement. ...If anyone knows me, they know how strongly I feel about suicide and depression. Sadly, it normally takes a tragedy for people to realize how much of a problem something can be, and unfortunately many of you in the Roseville community have experienced this recently. Depression and mental illness in general are real things that people around you, maybe even yourself, deal with every day. Depression isnt necessarily something you can physically see, its so easy to create an illusion to people around you that everything is alright. Its so important for everyone to realize that they arent alone, (even if it may constantly seem that way,) and there are positive solutions out there to solve the problems of life. This goes for everyone, not just those struggling with depression/mental illness. We all deal with struggles every day, just in different ways and to different extents. Surround yourself with people and things that make you feel happy in the long run. It may be easier said than done, but thats one of the challenges in life. Believe it or not, there are people out there that you impact the lives of. With all that said, remind people around you how much they mean to you, and hopefully they do the same. Make efforts to increase the overall happiness in this world. Compliment someone. Smile at a stranger. I dont know, just think about little gestures that other people have done that have made you happy. It takes two seconds and it might take a little extra effort to make someone feel good, and hopefully they pass the gesture on.- And you dont have to do these things just because someone might be depressed, but because everyone likes to have positive reassurance every once in a while. Im sure a lot of people will scroll past this, especially because it is a long read, and probably an unnecessary rant, ha! But hopefully Ive been able to reach out to some of you. :)
