I rarely post things about my dad because, well, he has no internet. I actually speak to him once in a while...what a concept. Today, I will post anyway. I did not know how awesome my dad was, as a boy, until I joined the Air Force and learned how unusual it was for an enlisted man to make the rank of E-9, the highest enlisted rank. He was lightening fast, as it turns out, and was an E-9 over half his career. He was selected to be a student at the very the first Senior NCO Academy. His class picture still hangs at that esteemed school next to an old original stone fireplace. I had the honor of lecturing on that stage to a very sharp class of Chiefs. It was a moment for me. As it turns out, I learned, without really realizing it, three important lessons from my Dad. First, you never have to compromise your faith to make it...if you do, you really didnt have it. Second, hard work gets noticed, and for the most part, rewarded. Third, there was really nothing at the NCO Club that attracted him more at the end of the day than going home to his wife and two sons. It all just seemed normal at the time. Heres to you Chief.
