I rarely update or comment on political topics not because am not - TopicsExpress

I rarely update or comment on political topics not because am not vested enough in their workings but because i would not manage to blindly follow people even when they are not doing what is required of them. No one is infallible but the problem that arises most of the time is that politics in our country has been reduced to insults, tribalism and just plain cadre-ism in the most Zambian use of the term. If our political parties can not respect their own manifestos and constitutions how do we expect them to respect us as citizens? The examples are everywhere and it is embarrassing, we simply do not have leaders who think of the greater good but what we do have in abundance are politicians in the most demeaning definition of the term. Each morning we wake up to more confusion and these are the people who we have entrusted the governance of our country with... Phew! The point am making is that Zambian politics are just plain stressful to be investing my energy in. Am a youth and I should be vibrant and in the fore front championing for change in the system but what would be the point of putting most of my energies in a system that does nothing to embrace young people except when using them for political gain as cadres or tools of violence. We do not have young people being mentored in taking up most leadership roles and this trend must stop. There is no way we can be having 65-year olds proudly masquerading themselves as youths at the expense of young people. Instead of the majority of us condemning the signing into law of the increase of the retirement age, or the economic disadvantages of political violence we are here, more concerned about who takes over as party president of certain political parties. I think its high time as youths we started critically analysing who we put into office and for once used our brains instead of our emotions when it comes to debating on such issues. Anyway, Life Goes On...
