I rather like the lectionary readings for this Sunday. The Matthew text is one of he key organising texts for a theology which undergirds ordination. It is fascinating / revealing to see the expects people select for themselves! Those texts are he building blocks upon which so much is often unknowingy constructed. The Matthew texts sits rather well with the scriptural idea that we are earthen vessels - and that is absolutely essential if we are to let the gospel be the gospel. It sits rather well with Calvins idea of ordination being an aspect of the condescension of God ... and that ordination represents an act of trust by God.
