I re-enlisted on the Arizona Memorial in 1982. It was closed for re-enlistments on Tuesdays. When colors sounded each service member there would run a flag up the pole, salute and bring it down. That would go on until everyone there had raised their flag. (The flag pole is attached to the USS Arizona, NOT to the memorial. So the flag flew from a ship beneath the sea, with 900+ of its crew still on-board. I cannot express what it feels like to be there, it is overwhelming.) I still have the flag (it will leave when I leave) and the certificate stating it flew from the Arizona. The USS Arizona has been stricken from the Naval Register but has never been decommissioned.
