I read a book and I laugh at a sentence I know you would hate - TopicsExpress

I read a book and I laugh at a sentence I know you would hate ... I cant get this performance of this song performed by Courtney Love out of my head. If the rest of Kansas City Choir Boy is as haunting as this number then I truly am sad Im missing it where it is having a limited sold-out run off-Broadway. Based on this one song from the shows song cycle Id say that composer and lyricist Todd Almond, who is accompanying her on the piano, is the real thing. And I love the cello accompaniment as well by Eric Allen. Im been posting about this production and Courtneys participation in it as a show of support for her since I know how scary and brave it is for her to journey forth artistically from all the preconceived notions about her. She has a reputation for brashness but Ive always responded to the vulnerable woman I have gotten to know a bit. Its a steely vulnerability, if that makes sense. You get a sense of it here in this song in which shes a combination of Marianne Faithfull, Marlene Dietrich, and a whole Lotte Lenya. But shes finally all Courtney. All Love.
