I read a brief article recently from a famous psychologist that argued the internet and social media is influencing us to be a more hostile, combative, and unkind society. I thought about that.....and said to myself; I resemble that remark!!! So I remembered a practice I used to do several years ago. I carried along with me 2 passages of scripture to remind me of a couple of things the Bible has to say about the topic: I Corinthians 4:5...Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait till the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of mens hearts. John 21:20-22....Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, Lord, who is going to betray you?) When Peter say him, he asked, Lord, what about him? Jesus answered, If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? YOU MUST FOLLOW ME. I am reminded again.....when in the midst of difficult times....times when it seems even people within the clergy are denying the faith once delivered to the saints....that ultimately I must stand up for what I believe...but at the same time leave the judgement of motives of mens hearts to the Lord. My primary mission is to FOLLOW JESUS! I wonder how many more times the Lord will have to remind me of these things? :-(
