I read a few weeks back in the city council meetings that they recognize a need for a hotel in Centralia and are conducting a study......Copied from the minutes of the meeting......Mayor Ashby stated that there is a need in Centralia for a hotel. Visitors to the City for personal and business trips are going elsewhere to stay. The Image Committee, Tourism Board and Industrial Commission have all recognized a need in the City for a new hotel. A new hotel would be great for the future of the City and add jobs as well. Councilman Sauer added that the SWOT analysis that was conducted earlier this year showed that one of the biggest concerns for the residents was a need for a hotel. City Manager Ramey stated that the feasibility study would give information to the City concerning the type of facility that could be supported and also meet the needs of the businesses and visitors to the area. He noted that banks and investors will require this information to make decisions involving the development as well. The fee for the study is $8000.00. The west side of the Centralia is the focus area but they are also looking at other locations within the city as well. The Motion was made by Councilman Jones and seconded by Councilman Smith to Approve A Resolution Accepting a Proposal From HVS for a Market Study with Facility Recommendation and Feasibility Analysis for Proposed Limited- Service Hotel
