I read a letter today that has had me & mom in tears all day. So we have decided this year to adopt a fan for the holidays! Let’s call her “G”. G has cancer. She just finished her (hopefully) final chemo treatment and she is as sick and exhausted as you would expect. At one time she was the director of a museum, but they fired her when her sick time ran out. Now they won’t even let her volunteer because no one wants to see a volunteer with a bald head. For the same reason no one is willing to give her a job either. Not even to be a greeter at Wal-Mart! She is a widow. She has had to sell her wedding rings and her mother’s wedding rings just to get this far. Her daughter has not come to see her since her double mastectomy. Her son helps as much as he can, but his wife walked out leaving him with lots of bills & turning off G’s cell phone. Today all she has in her kitchen is a gallon of milk and peanut butter & jelly. *wipes tears & blows nose* So my friend Princess Sassafras and I would like to do something special for her, and we are hoping you would like to help. We will be gathering donations over the next week or two. She could use gift cards for food or toiletries & stuff (Target, Meijer, Wal-Mart) or gas cards. Nice little gifts like maybe a scarf for her head to cheer her up. Or cash donations always help, no matter how small.
