I read a post and listened to a usual local fm report that there was bumper harvest of rice in Bunyala irrigation scheme.....That was malicious and ill intent miss reporting that is meant to deceive unsuspecting town dwellers and the innocent public...GET IT FROM,this was amongst the worst years of the Bunyala scheme interms of harvest...What they ought to have reported to you was that omuchele kwadiba, kwakosa siro thats the reason the rice has overstayed in the stores of the scheme..... We have always talked of massive corruption at the scheme. For about a year, farmers have been selling their rice directly to Ugandans in ksh immediately after harvesting to avoid the uncalled for exeggerated taxes by the schemes management when they sell for the farmers their produce...This season, the clever conmen at the management decided to change to BASMART rice which is relatively expensive that Ugandans avoid to buy with the intention of making the farmers use them to sell their rice so that they make their usual kill. The unending problems of these poor farmers continues...An acre in Bunyala usually produces about-on a bad season 20bags but some goes upto 30bags...With last seasons basmart rice that was impossed to them, the highest farmer got 7bags in an Acre..Some got as little as 3bags...It sickens reading posts and a usual national radio pimping wrong information for public consuption when 90% of the poor farmers will not be able to pay off the farming bills for that season...These debts will be carried forward to next season.. Indeed, they managed....No Ugandan came as the farmers had earlier on been promised that NCPB had asked them to plant basmart as they had a ready market.....Its shocking that the rice has stayed inthe stores for now 2months running..Accumilated from almost all the feeders of the main scheme....that is what you are being told over 5k bags. ..What do people gain in deceiving the public about Bunyala?
