I read and hear all the time how people wear out (overuse, never stop talking about) a controversial topic. My dad is accused of being Liberal -- Im not sure whether its supposed to be an insult, but the accusers seem to imply that it is -- for sharing stories of the American battle over social equality. Republicans blame Democrats for believing in different values for Americas continued prosperity. Democrats blame Republicans for standing their ground on principle. No one takes the Tea Party seriously anymore, thanks to crusaders like Ted Cruz, Michelle Bachmann and Sarah Palin. Nicholas Kristof is accused of biased reporting, overusing the Woody Allen/Dylan Farrow story for sensationalism. These people wont stop their actions on account of hecklers. Will they succeed in their missions, despite the hecklers? Not for a very long time. But these people believe theyre doing a public service, which they are. Furthermore, unlike any other country in the world, these people are guaranteed peace of mind, from prosecution, because of the First Amendment. The flaw in that sacred amendment is that neither facts or logic are required for speech to be protected. This flaw results in, like the recent Creationist/Evolutionist debate which involved Bill Nye, one espoused view remaining absolute and the other evolving to suit the persons interest. Eventually there will be a consensus on the topic. Like the law of gravity -- what goes up must come down -- or that the world is round, and not flat, proved if by nothing else the fact no ones fallen off the edge of the planet. So these people -- my dad, politicians, Nicholas Kristof and the best journalists across the country -- will continue to fight for their causes, despite accusing hecklers. Eventually one side will compromise and modify their view. I just get frustrated when I read or hear comments -- that make absolutely no logical sense or have no factually citable basis whatsoever -- attempting to counter logical or factual arguments.
