I read and notice with great disgust how one will continue to ascribe to himself the academic title he hasnt worked for. What comes to other peoples mind is that politicians are fond of doing so...no, this time around, they are not pointed in this observation.The annoying thing is that, the person or persons is/are educated up to say a degree and have risen to a significant position in the civil service. You only use the title of Dr. before your name if you read and obtained Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree from any recognised university in the world; or if one obtains a degree in any medical field. Those with honorary doctorate degrees should not use such titles indiscriminately. Such honorary degrees if should be used with ones names, the acronyms Dr. should be in brackects as (Dr.). We should note that, our prominent elder statesmen in Nigeria have numerous honorary doctorate degrees but they did exhibit such academic crimes.
