I read in the papers about a 19 year old black student from NY - TopicsExpress

I read in the papers about a 19 year old black student from NY Technical College. The black youth wanted to spend his first paycheck on a belt he admired on a rapper. He went to Barneys NY (Up South), and purchased a $300 belt with his debit card, he showed his state ID, and left the store. When he reached 60th Street, two NYPD detectives stopped him. They asked him how could he afford a $300 belt? where did he get the money?, and they claimed that the sales person said that the credit card was fraud. They arrested the young man, handcuffed him and had him detained for 2 hours. When they released him, they apologized with some excuse that the store had problems with phoney credit cards. What did that have to do with this young man? His card was not fraud. How dare these fools profile this young man because he was black. I guess if Oprah Winfrey can be profiled at a store, why not any other black person. The young mans mother accepted their apology by stating that she will sue Barneys NY, and the NYPD. The young man returned the belt and got his money back. My only problem is that I wished this young brother would have used that $300 for things more valuable than an expensive belt that a rapper wore. His mohter is a school bus driiver and Im sure she could have used help with his books, food, or even better saving it. He was not wrong for spending his money anyway he choose, just wished he would have made better choices.
