I read that Amazon made losses for almost 10 years or maybe more before seeing GREEN shoots of growth. But in US, Amazon had the advantage of the first mover. In India, it is competing with Flipkart and SnapDeal, both these companies got investment of over a billion USD. How long they will continue making losses to gain market share and how long the govt. would watch things quietly? Remember, the government almost fell in sanctioning FDI more than 50% in retail. Now online retail companies are doing the same under the skin. Sooner or later 50 million traders and people involved in old/inefficient logistics industry will hit the streets forcing legislatures to do something of this e-Retail.
