I read this article with the message that employers in China prefer to employ Malaysian rather than Singaporeans. transitioning.org/2013/08/27/malaysian-pmets-preferred-in-china-over-singaporeans/ The main reason is that the Malaysians are willing to accept lower salaries than Singaporeans, for the same job. If we think about it, we will soon realize that the Malaysians are able to accept lower salaries, because the cost of living for their family back home in Malaysia is so much lower than for a Singaporean. This is one consequence of the high cost of housing and the high cost of living in Singapore. The impact is quite serious. If it continues without any severe correction, Singaporeans will be squeezed out in many areas. This is why I have been against the economic policies adopted in Singapore for the past decade. We are wasteful and high cost, and are not taking serious action to remedy the situation.
