I read this morning that there are over one million “official” - TopicsExpress

I read this morning that there are over one million “official” words in the English language. Thousands and thousands of letters linked together to represent something, to mean something, to define something, to explain something, to help each of us navigate through this life and communicate with ourselves and each other.. Some are relatively insignificant and seldom used. Nidorosity, for example, (which means tasting raw meat after burping) is most likely a word you rarely, if ever, have used in the course of conversation. Others, however, are more common and part of our everyday vocabulary. Others have power and impact on each of us. Love, happiness, sadness, grief, fear, joy… each of these have a deeper meaning to us all in our own unique way. One word though stands out as the most significant, most powerful and most important word of all these one-million-plus words that define our language. In fact, I don’t care what the language is, this word and it’s translated equivalents, to me, anyhow, rises to the top. Believe. It’s the start of everything that is possible, everything that is positive, everything that spawns happiness and well-being in our life, in the world. It all starts with believing… right?. Here is a list of twenty of the most important sentences in the English language...and they all start with this simple, yet powerful word. Say them out loud as you read and you’ll understand the impact I’m talking about. . Believe there is God. Believe you can do it.. Believe there is goodness in everyone. Believe nothing is a lost cause, including yourself. Believe you can make a difference. Believe you are well and healthy. Believe you are worthy of great things. Believe you can overcome. Believe the impossible is possible. Believe it’s not too late. Believe every living creature deserves a second chance...and a third...and a fourth...and so on. Believe you are better than you think. Believe you’re beautiful. Believe it will turn around. Believe prayer is powerful. Believe one person can change the world. Believe you are that one person.. Believe dreams come true. Believe there is a plan for your life. Believe you are loved. Now, I want you to say aloud these sentences once more, but this time, omit the word “believe,” when you speak. Notice the impact and power of these statements now as they roll off your tongue. Remember though, for us to feel this sense of empowerment, for these words to ever sink in, the seed had to be planted with one word, “believe.”
