I read today in both the Waterville Sentinel and the Lewiston Sun of their support of expanding Mainecare. Anyone surprised ? These are the same newspapers that basically endorse every Socialist/Democrat candidate and then wonder why Maine people are among the highest taxed and lowest paid workers in the nation. Do we have a single newspaper in Maine that doesnt lean to the left ? So lets think about it. Maine has one of the most generous welfare systems in the nation. Maine newspapers now advocate the we expand the Mainecare program that is already bankrupting us. Bankrupting us and their brilliant idea, add thousands of additional able-bodied people to the rolls. But why, well they argue that these individuals need healthcare. HELL YES. They need housing too. We have Mainers who need better transportation, and better food. I suppose the Sentinel and Sun editors simply believe that here in Maine government should simply take care of anyone who lives or moves here. Id like to know more about these 70,000 people. Do they work 2 jobs like many people I know who are struggling here in rural Maine. Do they drive older cars and purchase basic cable tv. Do they own smartphones and Ipads? Do they eat at restaurants several times a week, and do they own the all important big screen tv. OR... Do they live within their means and set priorities, like most Maine working people? These are questions that I believe many Maine working people would like to ask! Just for the record SOCIALISM didnt work in Russia or Eastern Europe, and it wont work here. Expanding Mainecare ( especially our extremely generous system ) will simply draw thousands more to Maine to gain access to our programs. Once again our working class will pay, and pay, and pay Great editorials----Morning Sentinel--Lewiston Sun. Just what Ive grown to expect.
