I read yesterday that the Benghazi committee will swing into high gear around Sept 17. I imagine Trey Gowdy has been burning the midnight oil to get his case together. This is not much different than what he did as a highly successful federal prosecutor, his job before he got into elective politics. Meanwhile Hillary Clinton, who is the primary target in the Benghazi fiasco, has already started crashing downward in polls. If the Benghazi investigation is successful in exposing her as being culpable in the four Benghazi deaths, she is dead in the water as a Democratic Presidential candidate. With the Republican Party still trying to get organized under one tent (something that seems to be a permanent condition for them), there really do not seem to be any clear-cut candidates on either side right now. This could lead to the possibility of a dark horse coming from out of nowhere and winning--maybe a third party, maybe.... Who knows? I have noticed something that had slipped by me until just recently--there are a significant number of members of the House of Representatives who have military service in either Iraq or Afghanistan. Some of these congressmen come across as pretty bright and well informed. With the future seemingly clouded with one military crisis after another and a current administration that frankly seems pretty lost in such matters, the voters may well look to someone with a military background.
