I realize Mothers Day is problematic, the air gets Hallmarky, too - TopicsExpress

I realize Mothers Day is problematic, the air gets Hallmarky, too Hallmarky for many. Thats fair. As I selected cards for my mother, and my wife, I put many back in their slot thinking what a load of horse doo. But I confess Ive never seen the day as a nod to mothers as superior beings. Mothers Day continues to humble me, and even moreso as I age, because it causes me to pause and consider anothers sacrifice that I might live. My Mom wasnt some superior being impervious to pain, but a flesh and blood human being who struggled bringing me to be. I was, as they say, a pretty big boy as I made my entrance onto the stage. Has everything been a parade between us since then? No, nobody with any sense thinks that, and my mom above all others knows that. But the longer I live, the more thankful I am for my life, every damn stitch of it, and theres a petite lady who lives in southwest Arkansas who forty-seven years ago literally opened herself wide enough that I could squeeze through and draw breath, and be. She gave me a chance. Thats why Mothers Day to me is an opportunity to say thank you, Mom...thank you so very much.
