I realize this post is long overdue and there are many of our friends that are not in the loop on what’s been going on over the last week. This post will be somewhat brief this evening and as I have time I will continue to post the story of our progress as well as updates. For those of you who are aware of our situation, I’ll quickly mention that we are excited to say JP was moved out of the Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) and into a normal room. We are optimistic that his recovery will continue and are pleased with the pace at which he is progressing. He’s such a tough kid to have had to endure this at such a young age. He’s quite the little fighter and your prayers and support have helped him (and us) tremendously. For anyone who was unaware, we had a trip to the emergency room last Sunday at 4AM with JP. By Sunday afternoon he had a seizure in the hospital and was rushed to have a CT scan. He was admitted to the PICU later that same day and after a spinal tap and several blood tests was eventually diagnosed with a blood infection and spinal meningitis. Following an MRI it was also discovered that he had suffered a stroke at some point during this process and has a lesion on his brain. This caused additional seizures on Wednesday which were extremely scary. We had a second MRI on Friday after our Neurologist suspected the possibility of damage deeper in the brain or a possible abscess. We were blessed with the good news that they did not find any further damage nor an abscess and were moved out of the PICU yesterday late morning. Not to mention he has been seizure free for 4 full days! JP has been in our new room for a day and a half and is on the mend. There have been minor hiccups here and there as he is on some very strong antibiotics and anti-seizure medications. His body is fighting hard so most of what he’s experienced is probably expected for the situation but so extremely hard to watch none the less. This has been so hard for our whole family but we have all been comforted and blessed by all of the prayers and support from everyone. We can’t thank you all enough for your kind words, offers of assistance, visits, help with updates, play dates for Makenna, and again for the PRAYERS. JP is so loved and we are so proud of him for how hard he is fighting to get well. Please continue the prayers as he still has some work ahead of him and the recovery process will take time. Thank you again so much and God Bless.
