I realize today that some people who seek office want to blindside - TopicsExpress

I realize today that some people who seek office want to blindside the American people, even in small town America like Milton. I have addressed several issues in the media and on social media in the past few days as they have risen where other candidates have not been honest about their own agenda, personal interest and interest that they stand to gain on taxpayer dollar. The one goal I have is to always be open, be honest, and to be myself. These are simple traits that I learned during long working conversations in my Papas garden as a child. He would tells us (his grandchildren) that we must understand what is real and base everything on the facts we had in hand. He taught us to use such tools as the almanac to know when to plant such things as tomatoes and potatoes. He taught us to watch cloud movement to predict the rain. He tied all of this together to teach is when to fertilize, when to plow, when to prune and when to harvest. He knew how to farm. He knew his crops. Signs have popped up all over the area which read Any good farmer will tell you that its time to turn the crops! I would like to pay respect to my grandfather and address this issue. The reason is that I want everyone to know the consequences of turning the crops too early, too late or not at all. Turning the crops too early can result in damaged fruit and produce that is unable to be eaten, sold, or distributed to those in need. For example, if you pull corn off the stalk too early it will result in IMMATURE corn which is small in size and has no taste or juice to produce other food products. Pulling tomatoes off the vine before their ripe will result in a hard, dry tomato. Plucking peaches from the tree before they are ripe will result in hardened peaches that are not sweet. Finally, pulling watermelons and cantaloupes from the vine before the stem turns brown and curls up will result in those melons being unfit, hardened, not juicy nor sweet. For you see there was a time for everything and a season for every activity under heaven A time to be born and a time to die A TIME TO PLANT and a TIME TO UPROOT A time to kill and a time to heal A time to tear down and a time to rebuild A time to weep and time to laugh A time to mourn and a time to dance A time to scatter stones and a time to gather them back together A time to embrace and a time to refrain A time to search and a time to give up A time to keep and a time to throw away A time to tear and a time to mend A time to be silent and a time to speak A time to love and a time to hate A time for war and a time for peace We must determine what the right time is for in this election. Do we want a MAYOR who balances the budget and still builds a debt free City Hall, Police Department, Fire Department, Community Center, the Skate Park, the ball fields, lots of sidewalks with lamp post, and reworked lots of roads where storm water was damaging it. IF WE DO his name is GUY THOMPSON. He is mature and focused. He has children who are working and he has helped them through their collegiate studies. He has provided for the good of his family, his church and his friends. Most importantly he has NEVER allowed the city to be hijacked by a small group of people who want it all and wanted it to destroy at their own free will. He is the Mayor who supported efforts to bring new restaurants to the downtown Riverwalk. By the way, the Mayor Thompson ONLY earns $7768 each year as Mayor to be the spokesperson, the caretaker and one responsible to the people, the State and the Federal Government. ALL OF THIS HE DOES FOR APPROXIMATELY $226 every other week. Now think about the endless scholarships he has given to various children to be able to play sports, participate in musicals or go on field trips. I hear it all over town. So he has done his job as Mayor by balancing the budget and maintaining the city structures and the list goes on. What time is it really? It is a time to plant so that a new Mayor will grow and in the appropriate time be strong enough to carry this load. To begin teaching and cultivating a new leader. At that time the current Mayor will uproot and make way. The opposition to the Mayor in this race (Wesley Meiss) doesnt even understand the City Charter he pledged to follow. His campaign manager, Jack Sanborn, didnt either. He lied to the people of Milton about making changes that the job of MAYOR does not hold. If he were Mayor, HE WOULD NOT have the power to Change the City Charter without a very expensive ($28,000.00) referendum paid for by the people. The charter of the City of Milton government CAN ONLY BE CHANGED BY THE VOTE OF THE PEOPLE. Mr. Meiss, as a council person for more than a year, could have made motion to have that item on this ballot with minimum charge. He choose not to because his agenda is to rival the longest serving Mayor with a successful past and bright future. What time is it NOT? Now is NOT the time to uproot a solid and financially responsible Mayor who has served this city without failure or violation for twenty years. It is NOT a time to tear down but it is rather a time to keeping building together for the good of Milton and its neighbors. I visited some farmers in the north end of the county today who tell me that if you turn the crop as a whole it takes a long time to see new growth and other crops may NOT grow healthy in the same spot. I Take their advice seriously. Well prepared change is the only way change is effective. Sarah Palin was not well prepared when she resigned her seat to jump on the trail to see more power as Vice President. She failed. Barack Obama was not well prepared when he ran for President but won. All the smoke and whistles about the Hope & Change he promised has become a general rumble of Lord, I hope he dont have more hope and change! The American people can NOT bear anymore with serious financial ruins. He has failed in many ways. We do NOT need Hope & Change. We do need a concrete plan of action by which we march forward creating new jobs, educating our children and caring for our communities. This concrete plan of action should be led by people who have been creating jobs in our town. Not those who take credit for the hard work of others and brag on the campaign trail that he did stuff he didnt. It should be led by people who have managed people to become better people in our town and it should be measured by results from individuals who work hard and lead others to do the same. We must lead by example or we will never lead at all. Middle school history teachers are great. I admire all teachers but only one is trying to lead a City with lots of employees and a very right budget. He has never worked to expand that budget by starting a job providing business. He has only served on non-profit boards which take money and accomplish their own agenda instead of what is good for the people of Milton. I ask of each voter to look at each candidate. Speak with their former business partners to gather some knowledge. Speak with their neighbors to find out if they can work together for a better community. We should question candidates who had never participated in City Hall Meetings or even been to City Hall before beginning the candidate filing. We should question landownership from those who buy land with grant money just to leave it sitting as dilapidating eye sores. We should question why those candidates have people from the outside fighting personal agendas through them which makes them a puppet. My name is Glen Hill. I work hard everyday at the Blackwater Bistro to make sure my staff is supported and my ownership can see the fruits of their labor come unto harvest. I am proud to be a Milton resident and a Santa Rosa County Native. May God Bless you and your families during this political season. I pray that you will research, talk to others and then GO VOTE!
