I realized something magnificent at the pool today: I am no longer - TopicsExpress

I realized something magnificent at the pool today: I am no longer holding a babys toes in the water, panicking that my toddler would fall in, convincing an anxious preschooler that it was safe to swim in the big pool, or obsessively watching my two little non-swimmers and talking myself down from imagining a near drowning or worse. I am the mom who played happily with my kids (one now swimming reliably and one at ease independent in his life jacket). I watched my daughter jumping off the diving board. I read my book for an hour while my kids played safely nearby. I am no longer the mom of very small ones. Ive graduated into the childhood years and I couldnt be happier. Its bittersweet, this child rearing, but this summer Im feeling like we are finally, finally, out of the woods.
