I really did marry my best friend....... Most people dont realise when they say they married their best friend what they mean is, they met their partner and got along great, fell in love then got married, and over that period became best friends, as well as everything else. Me? Well I really did marry one of my best friends. We met around age 13 (she lived across from my sister) and at an event years later I said in a speech that when I first met her I wasnt that impressed and couldnt see what the fuss was about. You see I had to say that because the speech was at her first wedding, what I was really thinking was Geezuuz she is gorgeous. We then started knocking around together in a at Planlands for the next 10 or so years. We both had significant others over the years and were fortunate to still remain best of friends. I always compared others to her, not just in beauty, but in fun and attitude, and in the heart. When I was heartbroken over some other silly girl (who obviously wasnt the right one) she would sit and listen and agree she hated them for what theyd done as well. When we later went through that stage in our relationship where your mates tell your GF oh the stories we could tell you, in my case she, could usually tell them more because she’d been there for most of them. I’m not sure when I realised I really loved her, not the “yeh we go way back, love her like a sister” kind, but the “ I’d do just about anything to make sure she’s happy” kind. At some point things changed between us, over a period of months the looks between us changed (cliché movie stuff I know, true none the less), needless to say it came as a surprise (or not actually) that it wasn’t just me that felt it. Slight problem, one of us was married and I was single, I found myself not going over to visit, or being alone with her, because we knew something no one else did. Anyway the rest is a story for another time and everything that has come after has been nothing less than perfect.......Love you babe
