I really didnt give a shit about anything let alone the future until my niece was born. I really was burning the candle in both directions and working way too hard on the wrong things. Despite my successes, there were a lot of excesses. The wrong people, the wrong projects, the wrong places. The summer she was born, I got back to the basics. I went back to work for Apple, I brought Michelle in to my business and really started taking better care of myself. I stopped dating people who werent good for me, I spent more time with quality friends and started putting my curlers in and my housecoat on at 8 at night instead of working way too late and waking up way too early. The minute I saw my niece Sarah I knew she was going to be something. Ive already named her my successor someday when I decide to retire. When my two nephews were born, the songs that came on the radio were Drops of Jupiter by Train and A New Day Has Come by Celine Dion. When I hear those songs I always think of Kevin and Doug and how much they mean to me, but when I hear Half of My Heart it always brings me to tears because for way too long that is exactly how I think I was living.
