I really dont like to post drama on this page but this is important. Chowland of NC or now Chows on the Farm, NC is not a rescue, never was, its an amateur-hour, hoarding situation. The signs were there from the beginning but many folks only saw what they wanted to see. There are legit rescues that let Chowland use their credentials to pull dogs there are rescues that let Chowland foster. Rescues tried to offer advice to Chowland because we need the help, we wanted them to be successful - but it fell on deaf ears and a loud mouth. Several of the dogs Chowland had would have been in our rescue, treated and already adopted likely or in another reputable rescue but Chowland felt the need to race us to the shelter and got folks to adopt dogs from the shelter on their behalf because they never had the proper paperwork to pull dogs as a rescue. I just want to say to some of Chowlands crew (past and present) - you played a role in all this, you were enablers so put down your stones and think about that for a while. But now if you can, help PAL/NY who is apparently trying to help clean up this mess. If you are looking for some kind of direction on how to determine if a rescue is legit, first if they say they are nonprofit, ask for their Tax ID # and look it up. In our about section their are guidelines listed for a rescue of merit, see if they follow those guidelines. (Amy)
