I really dont understand why Big Food is so threatened by GMO labeling efforts. With their money and connections, how hard would it be for Nestle, Monsanto and the like to simply agree to labeling, and then see to it that the wording of the labels is so carefully parsed as to not affect their processes one bit? Even now, we buy cage-free eggs as if theyre humane, or factory salmon from a fish farm, or HFCS as corn sugar. Seems to me if they want the issue to go away, they could simply smother it in that kind of obfuscation and pretend theyre heroes. Not that they need deviousness lessons from me.
