I really felt like I had the wind knocked out of me after hearing - TopicsExpress

I really felt like I had the wind knocked out of me after hearing the news about a local rich woman who purchased a parking lot right next the the Tribune Building. It felt so malicious and ill-willed.... and I have a hard time grasping why people choose to act in ways that undermine the good things a community is doing. Many folks heard the news for the first time last night at the Tribune Building Meeting. We had a few minutes to talk at our tables about this announcement and people were confused and initially disheartened. But there was much talk about opportunity that arises out of moments just like this one.... and thats what we did.... we moved right into opportunities! And it was AWESOME!!! Lyz Crane the deputy director of ArtPlace spoke last night and instantly put us back on track by reminding our community why WE (of all the thousands of applicants nationwide) received a $400,000 ArtPlace grant for the beautification of the Tribune Building. It is because of the story... Its because of the people coming together to collaborate on how to help our town rise again is a admirable and noble act. So let me offer a kind and mindful perspective to anyone who might have ill-feelings toward this project: The good folks of our community who come together for the good of the community is a GOOD THING. Its understandable that some will diligently try and find all the reasons it might not be good, because thats in our nature -----> but it in the end it does not negate from the good or positive opportunities it has created and continues to create. These are my words
