I really have been enjoying this group. But, could we tone down some of the racist comments? Primates, monkeys.. come on now, guys. Im half Thai and those are my husband, my husband, and other family members (and me!) youre generalizing. Its frustrating driving here. My son is 10 and hes the only kid under 15 in our small town/village who wears a helmet (and its a nicer, thick one at that). When distant family members and friends see him with it they comment on how they could never wear one they feel so heavy on their heads. Because he grew up in child carseats in the US the first thing he does when he gets into a vehicle is grope for the seat-belts. It comes second nature to us but I cant hate people for not being in the same mind-set. I wish it would change because the roads would be much safer for everyone. Technology has changed so rapidly here. Only just 20 years ago most people in this town were riding on buffalos. I used to love riding on mine. Also, Buddhism gives an entirely different view on death. Bad karma they deserve from a past life. It was their time. etc, etc. I personally hate these explanations but to be sane while living here I make sure my family is as safe as possible. So far, overall, weve been thrilled to be here.
