I really have to echo this, like it or not. Everything that was - TopicsExpress

I really have to echo this, like it or not. Everything that was given for the sake of the cosplayers throughout the event - camping space, free entry, all that jazz - is a privilege, not a freaking right. We cosplayers are just like any other community in Singapore, or even the world - bestowed with basic rights to practise what we like and do what we love. Everything else is a privilege. The onus is on us to set a good example like helping the cleaners to clean up after ourselves (cleaners are humans too, you know), being a good sport and not being a stuck-up self-indulgent ass thinking that event organisers have to bend over to accommodate all of our needs and wants. Because, to be frank (and unless its a full-on cosplay convention), YOU ARE NOT ALWAYS THE TARGET DEMOGRAPHIC FOR THE EVENT. Lets face it, GameStart is targeted for gamers by gamers. They want to rope in as much gamers as possible, so why they give cosplayers in general free entry? Because they hope that there will be a 50% chance that someone is doing a cosplay of a game character or something gaming-related. And you know what? Its a good call - I saw a Lara Croft cosplayer (instant childhood crush revived), AVGN cosplayer (hi Demps), a bunch of Street Fighter cosplayers, a Cooking Mama cosplayer and even Tetris! Unfortunately, that accounted for less than half of the cosplays in general because the rest of you lots cosplay something that is unrelated to video games. Sure, half of that have video game adaptations, but unless Bandai Namco is gonna make a Musou series out of Free! or Kuroko no Basuke, not gonna buy it. And theres no way Im gonna buy those games if that really happens. The point is, dont expect event organisers to bend to your wants and DESIREs just because you get a privilege of getting in for free. Opening an additional convention hall costs money, and the organisers are trying to minimise potential losses by utilising one convention hall (its their first time, they just wanted to test the waters but they underestimated the reach and response for the event). The Suntec security team is nice enough to let you guys use whatever space you could find to camp outside the convention grounds, but even niceties can end if you dun goofed like making a ruckus or doing suggestive shit on the hallways. Its a PUBLIC AREA, for goodness sake. You wouldnt expect to see couples doing the frick-frack at the Fountain of Wealth, so what makes you special enough to justify doing some dry-humping at the hallways? (I hope it didnt happen, and REALLY hope that it doesnt happen. EVER.) Im already nice enough to not bother about any ruckus outside of the convention grounds (and GameStart was awesome enough to distract me), but if problems persist and I see it, I will have to take action for the sake of the credibility of the community. No more can I tolerate bad apples ruining the whole bunch.
