I really hope the guy that bought the Veha site builds a hotel. Overlooking the sea, 2 weddings a week, midweek spa breaks etc. Support from the planning office is really needed if this is what he wants to do. Just think of all the local businesses benefitting from direct sales to the hotel. Woodruffs, Derek Dunnes etc. Not to mention employment in construction and staff for the hotel. All the extra people in the town drinking, eating, and buying clothes. It would benefit The Grand Hotel too, funnily enough, and in turn fund improvements there. Look at Gorey, flat out I believe. Two strong hotels. The Parkview in Newtownmountkennedy doing well too. People I meet give out about the town being boring. Its not boring, its just that we have the same aul faces week in, week out. We need to attract people from outside the town and this hotel that Im dreaming of, I feel, will create a huge snowball effect for everyone, every business and our town.
