I really like how this poem came out of my pencil. If you agree please like, comment and share: En Mi Barrio En mi Barrio Seen some crazy shit Madresitas sell their nalgitas For that next fix Outland strangers with their throats slit Balas scream and explode Awaken the silence of the night Hear the words with the morning light Of which little homies crossed the final and lonesome line En mi Barrio Pharmacist of the calle Market their produced mind prisons With their young primos this poison is shared Nobody cares about their welfare Because its all about making paper Get them hooked young Get them hooked early Steal their dreams and take their money Posses their minds until they finally O.D Blanca y negra rule these streets En mi Barrio A veterano and an older homie Took his own life by committing suicide Just right outside! Five feet from my fence line Tired of living the life he was living Gripped his pistola from where it was hidden Pointed to his head and pressed it against his brown skin Hear his sidearm sound, fire then spit On the pavement his body runs cold and dead Lost dreams run slowly in nuestra valle En mi Barrio Witnessed great acts of humanity and valor Neighbors give to neighbors without any favor Seen mi jente rise and stand and fight As it was said, get rid of the crack-heads Ive seen newly young lovers begin their lives anew Always together today and forever Heard the heart of my barrio speak of honor, hope and peace Through these calles love runs rampant with ease En mi Barrio Saw that I must speak and use my mind Realized how to stand, love and fight Learned how to live and to survive Struggled with visions of my own demise Shown that for my family I must provide Found out that my heart is within a pair of Chicana-Brown eyes Removed the fear and trust in lies Released my heart to the mystery of time Stumbled across passion and let amor shine My blood is like the current of El Rio Grande as it rushes through these alley ways of peace and pain ~Marcial Delgado~ 2014
