I really liked the technicolor half of this movie that took place in Los Angeles -- I could watch Emma Thompson and Tom Hanks do battle in sharply-cut wardrobe choices all day long. The decision to make the other half of this take place in the outback of Australia, featuring a miscast and confused Colin Farrell, was not a good one. I could have done without all that. In its way, this was like Julie and Julia where you feel the steam leave the movie whenever it shunts back and forth in time.
