I really need to get better at editing prepared speeches for - TopicsExpress

I really need to get better at editing prepared speeches for length and looking up more to make eye contact. I only had 2 minutes to present and went over, resulting in only two questions, one from councilwoman Victoria Woodards, using her question to allow me to finish responding to the second question in my presentation. Councilman Campbell asked what Id like to see the Human Rights Commission focus on. Not great off the cuff and I wish I had more time to ponder the question. I ended up saying economic oppression in general. I got a look like is that it?. All candidates showed up in the end. I was reminded, I had applied for both the Human Rights Commission and Human Services Commission which will interview in December for an open seat. Personally, I dont think I will be selected for this seat, with 6 other choices and Im okay with that. This former foster kid is just getting used to putting himself out there and trusting he has what it takes to make a difference in a capacity such as this. If Im not selected, I will look forward to my next opportunity in December. Thank you friends for the positive reminders. I did edit this a bit to match a more positive outlook on the future going forward. Harness some of that idealism of mine to match the realism present from a rough child hood. I know how these processes work out. I know Im in a better spot than I was several years ago. I also know there are 6 other folks vying for the 3 year term. People who are more settled and less radical than I. I know and understand the politics that go into selections like this. I know I have a lot to bring to the table. I also know Im used to being patient and working hard to show people what I already know. If Im not recommended, I will try again in December with the Human Services Commission and continue to try. One of the many things I have learned in life...never give up fighting/working for what you believe in and are passionate about and good at. Giving up only means you fail yourself. When you come from a background like I do, you never get anything the first go around. Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers.
