I really, really wonder how many Labor MPs are keeping shtumm out of loyalty in this election environment? How many are feeling squeamish inside? To hold onto their seats, to win the election, they first dumped a really brilliant leader with essentially good working class Labor values, and now they are taking a far-right turn on asylum policy. I know I have real problems as a life long card carrying ALP member. The thought of Tony Abbott as PM is just awful .... but the way we have chosen to defeat him makes me wonder. The main reason I back the ALP is that it should reflect the needs of working families - but that means respecting the role of unions in our democratic society. Does Rudd Labor respect union rights? Really? My rusted on loyalty will probably keep me in the Labor camp...and I presume Rudd and Co know it. Bugger.
