I really, with all of my heart, hope all of you mommies and daddies are paying close attention to this. Especially those of you with asthmatic children, children with allergies and or chronically croupy kids. THIS IS NOTHING TO TAKE LIGHTLY. Every single symptom of the children who have been admitted into the ICU exhibited the EXACT symptoms my Sophia had two years ago. She started out with what they thought was a touch of strep, which turned out to be croup caused by an enterovirus. My daughter went from ready to get dressed for school to barely breathing, WITHIN SECONDS. We were rushed to Fatima Hospital where they were barely, I mean barely were able to stabilize her with a breathing tube, then rushed to Hasbro where she was code blue upon arrival. She ripped the breathing tube out on the way, so they had to re intubate her. From there we were admitted into ICU where she remained for a week with a feeding tube and a breathing tube, pumped with morphine and steroids. Hands down the most devastating week of my life. Please make sure your kids wash their hands frequently, know how to cough into their arms. Most of all, if they are sick, keep them home and take them to the doctor. There is no such thing as the common cold, anymore. This has been a public service announcement.
