I recall one of the recommendations from the Senchi Forum was for the President to put together an Economic Advisory Council so this council meets periodically with the President on related issues. It i refreshing that His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama has met some members today at Pedwase Lodge as preparation to the inauguration of this council. All these steps are being taken to implement the Senchi Report in full and to surmount the short term economic challenges of our dear nation. We must be concerned about the unhealthy speculation ongoing by many financial watchers that has the potential to put a dumper on all that we are doing to recover from current problems. The cedi has witnessed some stability over the past week but the zeal with which critics are down-talking the economy risks creating confidence problems for us. If we are all patriotic to the common good of our nation, we would be measured in the way we are quick to downplay our efforts so far. One positive outcome we should look out for in coming months that has the propensity to support our economy is the completion and operation of the Atuabo gas project especially for the power sector. I am confident that once this project reduces dependence on crude oil for the power sector by some half a billion dollars, the pressure on the cedi will ease as government will relieve herself of the foreign exchange needed to buy crude alone. Another right policy measure is the vigorous propagation of the MAde-In-Ghana Campaign to consume what we produce and take measures to implement some import-substitution measures that will help all of us in the medium term. The NDC government is doing quite a lot in dealing with the problems we are confronted with and we need your support to overcome them. The Youth of the party must continue to support the President and his policies as we are assured of a turn around in the last quarter of the year. Let us be bold in our resolve to deal with the problems because our citizens will measure us by what we have been able to achieve even in such times of challenges; the mark of a true great leader. My heart is always for the NDC and we have history on our side to deal with more dire challenges. Stand Up and Be Counted and lets restore confidence in our economy. From the four corners of Ghana to the corridors of our homes, lets spread the message of the greater works of this government and lets keep faith with His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama for better days indeed are close... Long Live the NDC!!!
