I received a call and email from a friend who does TNR ( trap, neuter, release) of feral cats. One particular colony at Central Mall is in danger, Management has given her 2 weeks to relocate these babies or the management will trap and have them all killed. This woman has put in thousands of hours of her time and hundreds of dollars, feeding and spaying/neutering. Please dont let Central Mall do this....Here is her plea.. PLEASE SHARE: MANAGEMENT AT CENTRAL MALL THREATENING TO TRAP CAT COLONY KNOWING THEY WILL BE KILLED There has been a TNR (trap, neuter, return) program in progress at Central Mall for the past 2 years with permission from management. Now, without any warning they are threatening to put out a feeding ban & start trapping the cats. They will be sent to Port Arthur city shelter where they will be killed. This is a long story & I will provide more information to anyone interested, but I am begging at this point (Ive only been given 2 weeks) for barn/outside homes for any of these cats. There are a few tame cats left that would make excellent inside pets. There are 2 feral cats that I trapped & had spayed after Hurricane Rita that are still out there in danger of being killed. Of this colony, 54 have been spayed/neutered, 9 tame ones placed in homes, & 18 kittens (some feral-had to be tamed) sent to no-kill shelters in larger cities. This is typical decision making by businesses when problems arise with feral cats. Instead of meeting with us & trying to solve the problems their solution is to trap & kill. This is not acceptable & the cats all need our help. If anyone can save one of these innocent cats please get in touch with me (prefer they at least go in pairs). They must be confined for 2-4 weeks for relocation in a secure enclosure (shed, barn, large pen, etc.), but it must be secure & there will be maintenance. I will help with that if possible.
